My name is Nat Birch. I am a qualified counsellor and psychotherapist, trained pluralistically, and I specialise in using a play therapy approach when working with children and young people. Therapy holds a deep personal meaning for me as it has helped me navigate challenges in my own life. I have worked with and taught primary and secondary aged children, and I've witnessed first-hand how urgently children need support with their mental health. Young people experience just as much stress and emotional difficulty as adults, yet the resources available to them can be far more limited.
This awareness is the driving force behind my passion for helping children and young people. With a background in music I learned how powerful expression can be beyond words. Kids can't always explain what they're feeling and my job is to help them explore, express and work through their experiences.
I bring decades of experience working with children both in and out of school settings, as well as professional therapeutic experience at Place2Be.
Children process their emotions and experiences through play. What adults talk about to help heal themselves, children 'play about'. My sessions are designed to create a safe space for kids to process the world around them through the medium of play and creative materials.
